Data Architect Lead
Introduction
Our client is looking for a Data Architect Lead, to assure subcontractors work, design data models in both cloud and on prem, and eventually grow their data capability further.
You will need around of 10 years leadership experience, and experience managing a team of around 10-12 people minimum.
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week onsite. If based in Gloucestershire, you will need to be happy to travel to Southampton or Surrey once per week.
Key responsibilities
- Help Defence customers develop their strategy for data as a strategic asset and define the appropriate level of governance needed and the appropriate processes.
- Communicate the data strategy to non-technical stakeholders and technical experts.
- Define the architecture for data software and analytics solutions, either as standalone engagements or within a larger multi-disciplinary programme environment.
- Support the Sales and Campaign functions to develop and foster client relationships and elaborate high level technical requirements.
- Represent the client and its technical solutions and capabilities toward client communities.
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior members of the team.
- Complying with the client’s policies and procedures.
- Assure subcontractors work to ensure data compliance.
- Help the client to develop and grow their data capabilities.
Skills & experience
- Strong leadership experience, with experience managing a team of around 10-12 people minimum.
- Strong background in data technologies with the ability to quickly learn new systems and prototype solutions using hands-on experience.
- Degree in a STEM subject or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience in Data Architecture and Strategy, particularly in UK Defence or Public Sector.
- Knowledge of structured and unstructured data, and methods to leverage them.
- Worked with Data and Software Engineers to solve complex data problems.
- Experience in Agile frameworks.
- Understanding of cloud vs. traditional system approaches.
- Involved in Business Development and contributing to technical bids.
- Built and specified Data Pipelines in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Familiar with commercial and contractual frameworks.
- Scrum Master and/or Product Owner experience.
