Our client is working on a major rail project and are looking for an experienced Estimator within Heavy Civils within rail to join the project.
You will need experience of producing magnitude costs and producing first principal estimates.
Rail experience is essential.
Working Patterns and location – This is a hybrid role with travel to either London or Birmingham 3 days per week.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development of a small team within a major rail project.
- Support and lead assurance on contractor estimates.
- Produce high-level order of magnitude costs and be produce first principal estimates at the later stages.
- Work across multiple work packages and disciplines and have the drive to want to learn new skills.
- Use typical methods of measurements (RMM1, CESMM4) for estimating.
- Apply knowledge indirect costs and other fees to complete an estimate.
- Work with engineers, clients and authority to complete an estimate.
- Review all outputs of junior estimators and provide guidance to them on projects.
- Independently write a basis-of-estimate report to be reviewed prior to submission.
Skills & experience
- Experience as an Estimator within Heavy Civils in Rail on Major projects.
- Knowledge of magnitude costs and principal estimates.
- Knowledge of RMM1, CESMM4 methodologies.
- Be able to benchmark outputs against other market data to provide further evidence to the client.
- A level of autonomy but also ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
