The Role:

As a Cost Accountant, you will be primarily responsible for the calculation of rates and submission to MoD of all information relating to compliance with MoD reporting requirements. The role also includes a range of other activities in support of financial reporting & internal financial compliance.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with finance teams as well a broad range of internal stakeholders in contributing to the achievement of Maritime Services financial objectives. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of financial processes and procedures which will be of benefit across a wide range of activities in the Company

Key responsibilities
  • Calculating the actual and estimated rates and ensuring they are appropriately communicated
  • Supporting audit team in their cost investigations
  • Being the initial point of contact for matters relating to rates within Maritime Services.
  • Ensuring that supplier reports and the Questionnaire on the Methodology of Cost Allocation are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Co-ordinating the Capital Expenditure reporting across Maritime Services, ensuring that assets are appropriately recorded and requirements of IFRS 16 are complied with.
  • Co-ordinating the process for maintenance of Delegation of Authority levels within Maritime Services
  • Conducting the annual existence test for business-critical spreadsheets
  • Administering the shared workspace area for the finance team.
  • Updating processes and policies as required for all aspects of the role.
Skills & experience
  • Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
  • Understanding of Finance Governance requirements
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Management accounting experience
  • Business Systems experience (SAP)
