Commercial Manager

Introduction

My client are one of the largest defence company who are looking for a Commercial Lead to manage multi million pound projects within the Defence and National Security space.

You will be drafting, managing and reviewing contracts as well as showcasing strong negotiation skills. You will be the main point of contact for all commercial related activities. So if this role sounds like you please get in touch.

This role will be hybrid based in Cheltenham with up to 25% external travel to other sites.

Key responsibilities
  • Lead on all commercial aspects from discussion through to delivery.
  • Act as the Commercial point of contact for key multi-million-pound contracts, both pre and post signature,
  • Supporting our client’s Defence & National Security customers, including influencing key stakeholders and clients.
  • Assess the implications of changes to existing contractual terms and conditions.
  • Lead programme teams in ensuring such change is accounted for in priced proposals.
  • Prepare and negotiate on contracts terms, licence terms, scope and pricing, recognising the risk trade-off.
  • Working with relevant Programme Manager, Business Development Manager, Finance Team and Supply Chain Lead and working within approvals.
  • Engage with and support the legal review of contract terms and conditions.
  • Support the wider Commercial team with high value, complexity and strategically significant proposals and negotiations.
Skills & experience
  • Relevant degree (such as Law, Business, Economics) and significant demonstrable experience of commercial management in a Defence/business/IT/engineering environment.
  • Track record of building strong customer relationships.
  • Demonstrable experience of proposal work and review on medium to large scale and complexity captures.
  • Demonstrable success in creating and executing negotiating strategies and supporting business decision making.
  • Experience of process development.
