Commercial Consultant
Introduction
Our client works within Defence, Government, Critical National Infrastructure and Aerospace and are looking for a Commercial Manager to provide advice on and analysis of commercial risks in the business, commercial sales and procurement guidance.
The role is varied and includes managing a small team, reviewing, drafting and negotiating a range of contract paperwork and leading commercial governance process for bids.
This is an excellent opportunity for a varied role, working for a company who really cares about their staff and works on incredibly exciting projects!
This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days on site per week.
Key responsibilities
- Commercially assess bids and contracts, providing drafting and leading negotiations as required.
- Create bespoke agreements for presales and sales activity, including all supply chain agreements.
- Drafting and agreement of sales and procurement agreements.
- Analysis and negotiation of contract terms and conditions.
- Managing a commercial team, providing formal and informal support and development to team members.
- Providing commercial support to bid teams.
- Commercial risk identification, mitigation and management.
- Reviewing and approving call-off contracts under a wide variety of framework types.
- Providing commercial support throughout contract delivery.
- Input to approvals processes, attendance and input at bid and governance meetings.
- Training non-commercial staff in commercial and procurement issues.
- Development of commercial processes and procedures.
Skills & experience
- The individual will have a minimum of 7 years commercial experience with Defence/Government/Aerospace, within a private company.
- Experience in sales and/or procurement commercial management, willing to work in both fields.
- Demonstrable experience of people management and leaderships.
- Ability to analyse, interpret and draft contractual wording with a strong attention to detail.
- Experience of negotiating complex contract terms with suppliers and/or clients.
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- A knowledge of contract law would be beneficial.
