Business Development Manager (Defence)

Introduction

Our client is an SME based in Cheltenham, currently working on National Security projects and looking to grow their business into the MOD space.

They operate across Cyber, Test, Software, Infrastructure and Networking, and have experienced organic growth both via partners and direct contacts, but now are looking for a dedicated Business Development specialist to utilise their relationships within the MOD to push them to the next level.

The client’s base is in Cheltenham, but this role will be expected to be working on client sites across the South West (Corsham, Hereford etc.) so location is less important.

Key responsibilities
  • Identifying new opportunities, including new partnerships and direct contracts, within the MOD.
  • Creating and driving business development and growth strategies.
  • Building relationships with clients in the MOD to best understand their requirements.
  • Taking full accountability for managing relationships with Partners and Clients.
  • Ensuring the right people are in place for successful delivery.
  • Creating sales forecasts and actively working towards reaching them.
Skills & experience
  • Excellent contacts within the Ministry of Defence, ideally within the South West (Corsham, Hereford etc.)
  • Ability to build relationships to best understand client requirements.
  • Previous experience growing an Account, either from scratch or into a new domain.
  • Desire to work autonomously.
