Building Surveyor

Introduction

Our client is looking for a Building Surveyor to support their growth and client delivery across retail, health, energy, commercial property, education, and public sectors.

The ideal candidate will have worked in Consulting before and therefore have experience working with clients, business development and growth and leading teams.

They also really want ambitious individuals in their team who are keen for progression!

Working Patterns – 2-3 days per week onsite.

Key responsibilities
  • Support the Public Sector division, providing Building Surveyor services across refurbishment, improvement and modernisation projects.
  • Work closely with clients to understand their requirements and ensure delivery against these requirements.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, produce specifications, obtain estimates, obtain statutory approvals and administer contracts for refurbishment projects.
  • Apply standard forms of building contract, such as JCT and NEC.
  • Mentor and train and line manage Junior Surveyors.
  • Apply quality and safety standards to asset surveys, design and management of projects and portfolios.
  • Carry out surveys, inspections, schedules, provide professional services and managing regional schemes.
  • Develop of new business opportunities including preparation and submission of bids.
Skills & experience
  • Experience working in a similar Building Surveyor role, preferably within the Public Sector, ideally within Consultancy.
  • A RICS Accredited Degree and ideally Chartered/desire to become Chartered.
  • Knowledge and application of building surveying professional services.
  • Sound technical surveying knowledge and significant building surveying experience.
  • Experience managing clients with a strong commercial awareness.
  • Experience in mentoring, training and coaching team members.
  • Sound knowledge drafting technical documents: requirements, asset reviews, feasibility studies, specifications and drawings.
  • Full understanding of Health and Safety requirements and Statutory Compliance.
  • Specific Technical Skillsets to meet specialist Professional Building Surveying service requirements EG Dilapidations, Party Wall, Fire Risk, Access Assessments.
