Our client is working with clients in the Defence and Government sector to help them build robust and scalable digital platforms.
You will work to deliver modern micro-services-based solutions to continuously improve environments through automation and infrastructure-as-code.
You will need experience within the Defence/Government sector.
Working Patterns: This role will be hybrid with 3-4 days per week on site. Candidates must be willing to travel to other client sites around the UK.
Key responsibilities
- Work with clients in the Defence sector to deliver end-to-end software features.
- Work within multi-disciplinary teams across back and front-end developers, creatives and UX experts, integration teams and the client themselves.
- Deliver cloud native and containerised applications using technologies including AWS Lambda, Spring Boot, NodeJS, Python FastAPI, Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.
- Build solutions as part of a DevSecOps and Agile ecosystem supported by tooling including Atlassian, Jenkins, GitLab, OWASP and AWS componentry.
- Ensure your solution works in a reliable and resilient way using Site Reliability Engineering methods to increase availability while reducing costs and callouts.
- Help the client and end users to understand the solutions that need to be developed.
Skills & experience
- A hands-on software engineer with experience in the Defence/Government sector, as well as being able to articulate ideas and solutions.
- Experience in software development and an evident passion for writing code.
- An understanding of the fundamentals of software development in Java, TypeScript, JavaScript and/or Python, along with good overall engineering patterns and practices and be able to explain these clearly.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of working in teams, particularly in agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Knowledge of cloud/containerised applications.
- Experience of Infrastructure-as-code.
