Our client is a leading UK consultancy with a strong track record delivering high-impact programmes across the MoD, wider Government, and the Public Sector. As their demand continues to grow, they are expanding their team and are seeking Agile Change Consultants at multiple levels.
In this role, you’ll work at the heart of complex Defence and National Security environments, coaching and facilitating teams while embedding agile ways of working at scale. You’ll bring hands-on experience introducing and maturing agile practices within Defence and/or National Security organisations.
You’ll also be highly confident in client-facing situations, able to build credibility quickly and operate effectively in a consulting-led environment where trust, influence, and clarity matter.
Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 2-4 days per week on site dependant on the project. UK travel may be required.
Key responsibilities
- Partner with Defence and National Security clients to evolve and improve ways of working in complex, high-assurance environments.
- Lead the adoption of agile approaches, flexing between coaching, facilitation, and hands-on delivery as needed.
- Enable high-performing, cross-functional teams, embedding agile principles and supporting effective self-organisation and delivery ceremonies.
- Influence senior leaders and enterprise processes, improving flow across areas such as portfolio management, governance, risk, and control.
- Identify delivery blockers and systemic constraints, working with teams to remove obstacles and drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive culture, sharing insights across the practice and recognising individual contributions to collective success.
Skills & experience
- Hands-on experience in Agile transformation and coaching within Defence and/or National Security environments.
- Proven success delivering transformation programmes, with a strong understanding of both traditional delivery models and agile approaches.
- Experience shaping programmes from discovery through delivery—understanding business challenges and architecting them into effective delivery models.
- Comfortable working with both mature and emerging agile teams, operating as a team member, coach, facilitator, or delivery lead as required.
- Strong coaching and facilitation capability, with the ability to inspire teams, build momentum, and sustain change.
- Solid grounding in agile methods and certifications, particularly Kanban, Disciplined Agile, and/or ICAgile.
- Knowledge of additional frameworks such as Scrum, SAFe, LeSS, and XP is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a clear focus on outcomes, value, and organisational goals.
- Experience developing and implementing transformation strategies at team, programme, or enterprise level.
- Proven ability to work with portfolio and governance functions, reframing initiatives into outcomes aligned to value streams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, ideally gained within a consulting environment.
Additional benefits
- Holidays, starting at 25 days a year.
- A flexible contributory pension arrangement with matching contributions.
- Life assurance of six times your core salary (up to a maximum of six times the Earnings Cap, in force at date of death).
- Occupational sick pay.
- Personal accident insurance.
- Mobile phone is not fully funded but you can claim on expenses for business use.
Our client is committed to providing a diverse and inclusive workplace and welcomes applications from all backgrounds.
