We are looking for a Project Controller to support across my clients Defence and Military department, by monitoring and controlling the planning, scope, resources, and cost on specific projects, all at different stages in their lifecycle.

This vacancy will be suitable for Project Planners/Schedulers, PMO focused individuals or cost controllers who are looking for a step up into a key Project Controller position, as you will be provided with the support and development to achieve this.

You will have the flexibility of hybrid working, primarily being based once or twice a week on-site at my client Bedfordshire office. You will also have the opportunity to work a 4-day working week, having every Friday off!!

My client is a global defence organisation, so any current or prior defence experience is desirable, as you will be put through a security clearance prior to starting this role.

Key responsibilities
  • Budgeting and managing the resource requirements on the projects and programmes, including:
    • managing and developing EACs
    • Resource planning for Opportunities
  • Generating data/information for presentations and reports, presenting these to the business and the customer.
  • Generating Variance Analysis Reports on a monthly basis to cover variance at completion information with corrective actions.
  • Work with the Programme Manager and other stakeholders to implement the corrective actions to re-align the work to the baseline and budgets.
  • Ensuring that all Programmes’ budgets are fully planned to ensure that customer and business requirements are met.
  • Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals.
Skills & experience
  • Budgeting and managing the resource requirements on the projects and programmes.
  • Working knowledge of and experience in SAP cost planning and reporting.
  • The ability to work with, analyse and understand key performance data and metrics.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Refers to policies and practices for guidance.

The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:

  • An understanding of business finance including Orders, Sales, EBIT and Cash and the importance of managing and controlling programmes in order to achieve successful financial outcomes.
  • Experience in the development, maintenance and control of complex event-driven project plans and their impact on budgets and financial performance.
