As Bid Manager you will directly contribute to the success of the company strategy by leading bid teams to achieve sustained, high-levels of performance across the company Business Units. The role holder provides bid and proposal management to business winning teams and support to account and capture managers in developing major business winning campaign strategies and plans. The role of the Bid Manager is to deliver high quality, winning bids, and to support the team of client managers in developing win strategies and capture plans.

Key responsibilities
  • To support the company’s growth strategy by delivering effective leadership of multi-disciplinary bid teams.
  • To provide bid management plans, schedules and bid budget applications and to effectively and efficiently manage bids to cost, quality and time.
  • To provide senior leaders with high levels of confidence in the quality of bids both during bid preparation and at internal approval gate reviews. Conducting assurance reviews of bid materials, preparing and presenting bids for internal bid approvals by senior leaders.
  • Lead on engagements with internal and external customers.
  • To effectively mobilise and lead bid teams, communicating the bid process, schedule, team roles and responsibilities.
  • Leading and contributing to proposals and portal based tender responses. Write proposal documents in a customer focused manner, emphasising win themes and unique selling points.
  • Providing expertise to develop win strategies including leading and facilitating black hat reviews, price to win analysis and win theme development.
  • Assessing bid team performance and identifying learning points to develop and implement continuous improvement activities.
  • Proactive identification of continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and process and lead process tailoring and process review based on clear understanding of wider business context.
  • Define customer and business value, take ownership of time, cost and quality trades in order to meet business objectives.
  • Undertake such other reasonable duties, commensurate with the job holder’s experience and qualifications, as may be required for the smooth operation of the business.
Skills & experience
  • Demonstrable experience in leading multi-disciplined bid teams.
  • Project planning, risk and opportunity management.
  • Facilitation of business winning colour reviews – Blue Team, Black Hat, Pink Team, Red Team, Green Team and White Team.
  • Communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop relationships at all levels within a business.
  • Proven success in identifying and implementing continuous improvement and change within a business.
  • Highly organised with the ability to maintain focus, manage priorities and deliver under pressure.
  • Educated in a Business based discipline preferably to degree level or have equivalent industry experience.
  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) certification or equivalent experience.
  • High level of computer literacy is essential
